Unit 1 Day 1

Unit one day one :  Area of square,rectangle, triangle, trapezoids, parallelogram, circles, and polygons. Define point, line, plane, line segment, ray, angle, median, altitude, perpendicular.

Area of a square
Square
Area = a2
a = length of side

Area of rectangle
Rectangle
Area = w × h
w = width
h = height

Area of triangle
Triangle
Area = ½ × b × h
b = base
h = vertical height
Area of trapizoids
Trapezoid (US)
Trapezium (UK)
Area = ½(a+b) × h
h = vertical height

Area of parllelogram
Parallelogram
Area = b × h
b = base
h = vertical height

Area of circles
Circle
Area = π × r2
Circumference = 2 × π × r
r = radius

Area of polygons
The area of any polygon is given by:

or

where,
S  is the length of any side
N  is the number of sides
π  is
PI, approximately 3.142

Define:
line The notion of line or straight line was introduced by ancient mathematicians to represent straight objects.

plane In mathematics, a plane is a flat, two-dimensional surface.

line segment In geometry, a line segment is a part of a line that is bounded by two distinct end points.

ray A portion of a line which starts at a point and goes off in a particular direction to infinity.

angle In geometry, an angle is the figure formed by two rays.

median  a point, line, part, or plane that is in the middle.

altitude An altitude is the perpendicular segment from a vertex to its opposite side.

perpendicular it is when a line are the same all the way down and dont cross.
